Sri Lanka Day 1 (Katunayake & Welisara): Whole New Experience

Landed on Sri Lanka Bandaranaike International Airport safely and that's all that matters.

Started the day with alarm being set at 7.15am, when that should be the time I leave my house. Something went wrong with Daddy's car and so I only managed to get to the airport at 8am.

My luggage is HUGE. It's 32kg and I hope no one is judging me for that.

I did something embarrassing too. I stoned in front of the automated immigration counter and the guy behind me had to probe me to go. HAHHAHA. Yet another Wai Han's moment.

When I got to the lounge, I was pretty shocked at the number of people boarding the airplane UL307 because they were just so few that I hardly have to wait for my turn to board even if we were at row 9. It's quite scary actually until Mummy asked me to cancel the flight back to Singapore to take SIA. Only 6 people per row. HAHAH. Lynette and I tried the trick of booking seat A and C, hoping that no one will take seat B. In the end, however, someone really did take seat B and we just changed seat. The guy turned out to be Jalan Kayu Roti Prata Manager. He said if I were to visit next time, I would get a discount hahahah.

This is my meal on board. Roti Paratha = Roti Prata in Singapore. I didn't know. The white thingy was kindly shared by the guy beside us because he wanted us to try other food on board as well! So nice of him!!

Anyway, it was the first time for me to take the window seat and the view was just spectacular!!

Other than the plane being small, I would say that the touch screen monitor worked pretty badly and the seat just went back everytime you lean back. Blankets and headsets were collected pretty early but that is how they become more efficient, I guess. But no matter what, as long as I am safe and alive, I am fine.

Alighting from the plane was pretty cool too! There would be a bus picking you up after you walked down the stairs.

At Bandaranaike Airport, we exchanged money, bought our sim card and left for the Misuki Plaza Hotel. Thank god for the staff of Misuki who picked us up.

This was our lunch, all paid for by Wilmar International. Really thankful and privileged. This is the large plate of fried chicken rice (fried rice with chicken) and deviled chicken. Everything is deviled here and both Lynette and I actually quite like this way of cooking.

Time for some shopping at Mahabage Tilakma City for necessities (that's not our trolley by the way)

(OH! Look at this cute little palm-sized watermelon)

and of course non-necessity such as piping equipment because it was only $2.20 and that was just too hard to resist when in Singapore, one tip will cost you $3+ already.

Oh by the way, we took public bus to and fro and it was just so fast because of the frequency of the bus and the best part was each trip costed only $0.10 per person. Didn't manage to snap a photo on the bus though.

Went back to the room and ate the newly bought strawberries which costed $1.60. I don't know if that is expensive or cheap because I don't usually do the shopping for fruits.

Dinner was deviled pork and I would say that deviled chicken was better because the pork was a little to tough. It was sent to my room and that was great because I would be able to watch my shows while eating.

That's more or less it for Day 1! Internship starts tomorrow and i can't wait. HAHA.

Now let me introduced my travel companions.

This is Lynette, who has been helping me to settle so many things. Thankful for such a nice fellow intern and travel buddy!
