Sri Lanka Day 74 (Horton Plains & Nuwara Eliya): 5h Hike + Horse Riding

Because bus service only starts running at around 6am - 6.30am, we didn't start the day at Horton Plains as early as what online suggests. However, I felt that reaching there at around 8.30am - 9am was better because it was really misty in the early morning and if the mist covers the area, you practically can't enjoy the nature at all. We were really lucky I think! The weather got better after a while. You can see in my first photo, it was so misty and luckily, it cleared after some time.

The 3 main attractions here are World's End, Mini World's End and Bakers' Falls. Walking around the grasslands was a great experience for me too! Going to Horton Plains is costly but to save money, we took a bus to Pattipola from Nuwara Eliya town. Usually tuktuk drivers collude and charge at LKR3500 for a round trip but at Pattipola, we got a tuktuk at around LKR1800.Good deal right?

Another thing to note is that the 3 main attractions are in a loop. Turning right will lead to an easier path seeing the attractions in this order: Bakers' Falls, World's End, Mini Worlds' End. Turning left will consist of very steep upslope and you will see the attractions in the opposite direction.

Ok photos time!

Bakers' Falls. It is so wide that you can't capture the entire waterfall in one picture.

World's End. Super cool!

When we reached Mini World' End, the mist set over and we couldn't see anything and it started raining.

Mini World's End :

Back to Pattipola to have lunch

Then we went back to Nuwara Eliya Town and walked around the town. The architecture in Nuwara Eliya is just so different from the other cities in Sri Lanka. The weather is so cold also. Like how cold can Sri Lanka be? I always thought so when my colleagues said this place is really cold until I came here to experience it myself. These were some of the places we went:

1. Post Office. I bought a lot of postcards here. HAHAHHA

2. Hatton National Bank

3. Bale Bazaar

4. Victoria Park

5. Fruit Stalls

6. Gregory Lake

We even did some horse riding and managed to bargain till LKR500 each person. We were so broke and we kept bargaining! Should have done this earlier because we could have saved a lot.

Revealing Sunshine Bungalow Guesthouse, the place I am staying for 3 nights.

Dinner: Kottu Mee Cup Noodles
