Went to the supermarket and saw some really tea, packaged nicely. I didn’t see that in Negombo so I thought I should just buy it. Luckily, the weight didn’t kill me. Went back to the Galle Fort and on our way we met this local with his son. It seems like a normal chit-chatting about where we are from and then about the tsunami that hit Sri Lanka and his house.

“Oh, have you seen the fish market, fruit market, spice market and tea that are selling at local prices? Our prime minister will be coming here and all these would be closed the next 5 days. Let me show you where. I don’t want your money. We are all humans and should help each other.”

(It was all a scam because we went back to Galle the next day to catch the train/bus and everything was still opened.)

Since it was still early, we decided to have a look. This local got my trust, which was broken after that.

I saw his worn slippers such that half of his feet was touching the ground. I saw the cross he was wearing and him praying to the Buddha along the street sincerely after that. He shared about his 1 year-old daughter, who died in tsunami and another daughter who has polio.

Brought us to the spice shop and yup, as expected being persuaded to buy. (Rolled eyes)

“Not buying? Then do you like tea?”

“I bought already.”

“Do you like fruits?”

“She bought already.”

“THEN WHAT DO YOU LIKE? How about you go into that shop and buy a small bottle of milk for my daughter. I was pissed at myself for trusting the locals here again. It’s like how I have never learnt. Not so much about the LKR 100 that I gave him.

Went so far and in the end, everything was just a scam. Ok back to my room and bathed and slept. I didn’t really sleep actually because of the spoilt lock. It was just too scary for me to sleep peacefully.
