Sri Lanka Day 24 (Negombo): Happy Poya Day- First Time Not Getting Scammed

Happy Poya Day! Yay it's a public holiday today!

Oh it was the release of results day too. Erm... totally neutral about the results. Didn't want to check because I was too scared but I still did in the end.

Finally got out of Misuki at 9.30am. We are getting more and more lazy each day. The bus ride to Negombo was quite comfortable because we took up 3 seats. Haha. Napped a while on the bus.

Reached Negombo and we could see many small tentages like these giving out free food and drink! They call this doncella.

And we had no idea that it actually links to the Negombo Prison. There were so many people there, guessing that because it was Poya Day and many came to visit their family.

View of St Stephen Church from the Dutch Fort. Uma told us that Negombo is a place rich in christianity and catholicism. We did visit many churches which are so grand! Didn't get to St Stephen Church though.

Finally to the Fish Market, the 2nd listed attraction in Negombo. Didn't step into the market but snapped many photos from where I was standing.

It was connected to the beach and you could see many fishes laid down to dry and all the fishing activities there. The beach was really fishy smelling. But this is not the nice Negombo Beach, which we visited later.

A local came to us and claimed that this area was his and we were not allowed to take photos or I would say, we are allowed to if we pay him. Just ignored and pretended we didn't understand what he was. Communicated in Chinese language and left the place.

Continued our way to the Negombo Beach and passed by St Mary's Church

The sun was really killing me! I was really melting and it fel like 40 degrees celcius according to weather widget on my phone. So really needed an aircon place badly! The only one on the way and near was Coco's. And it totally felt like a deja vu like in Unawatuna when we couldn't find the cafe because google map was wrong/ address was wrong. Luckily we walked down a little bit more down Sea St and yay we found it!

The food was super affordable.

My $1 blueberry icecream and it tasted really good like those $4-$5 kind of ice cream in Singapore

My Beef Burger which has a realy burnt patty. Chicken is always a safer choice her but I got a craving for Macs double cheese burger. Fries again! I didn't eat a lot this time. It was $3.50.

Moreover, it offerred free wifi!

Continued our way to the Negombo Beach and we passed by St Sebastian Church

It was even bigger than St Mary Church but the interior was not opened to the public

And we finally reached the beach. The front part was exactly like the beach at the fish market and we were like this can't be the beach right? We googled and the images that came out was totally not what we were seeing. Feeling super lethargic because the sun was just too hot to the extent that I didn't even feel like taking anymore photos. We decided to walk further down and I am glad we did.

Went to hotel J to chill at the benches even though we didn't stay here. Cheapo and aunty us. The wind was good and the sky was gone. I felt like napping because it was just so comfortable. See those tanned lines. ): Really became damn black after this trip.

The queue for free icecream was insame. I couldn't really take a good photo of it. But anyway remember to wear socks every time when you go to a temple if not you will end up walking barefooted for the whole visit and dirtying your slippers after that like me. No caps and umbrellas too!

Bought some snacks back and tada, we finished exploring Negombo.Bus ride back was acceptable and I am thankful.

Dinner: Deviled chicken and Fruit salad with no watermelon and add vanilla ice cream and cashew nuts (self-invented fushion of fruit salad and banana split)
