Sri Lanka Day 42 (Mount Lavinia & Colombo): New-found Local Friend

My breakfast: Back to white bread and butter and omelette. The rice and raisin biscuits I bought dipped in cereal is like so awesome.

Took the bus to Pettah and to Mount Lavinia. The hotel was beautiful but because there wasn't any guest, the attention was on us and they sure were thinking that we are coming here to stay but nope, we just wanted to chill. And to chill, yes, you need to buy food which I thought was not really worth it because the drink was expensive and buying only 1 fruit pie which was LKR100 and you just sit there to chill for 45min... I'm not that thick-skinned to do that. So in a way, I knew I had to buy more than that.

Out into the sun and yup, too hot to want to stay at the beach for long. The beach wss't really nice anyway. Negombo Beach and Jungle Beach were much better.

Ok back to Colombo and I wanted to go to the Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple and Viharamahadevi Park.

Before that, chill at Majestic City and then Cinnamon Grand. The ice cream in Cinnamon Grand was overpriced. The one I had in Negombo for LKR100 was definitely much better.

Some photo of Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple. You will be surprised that even thought it is a Buddhist Temple, you will see Hindu god and also Taoist God. For LKR200 as entrance fee, I think it was quite worth it because there are a lot of things to look at. The tree inside have branches growth to its roots too which was pretty cool. It is just $2 anyway and you won't be coming to this place again.

Another cool thing was this- the buddha looks differently depending on the angle you look at it.

Next, the Victoria Park (Viharamahadevi Park). It has so many things: War Memorial, Library, Horse Riding, Street Food (where I got a really nice mango but had diarrhea after that too), Kids' playground and water park, suspension bridge, Buddha Statue, etc.

Went back to Colombo Fort to buy the tickets and I think we were stuck there for 30min because of the tickets to Trincomalee were really limited and we didn't have enough money for AC train to and fro from Jaffna. Sighh. Decided to buy the Trincomalee tickets for the last weekend in the end.

Back on bus 187 and we met Ursula. Quite an interesting person to talk to and her accent is really so not local.

Back in Misuki and yay! Day off for tmr!

Dinner: Chicken Fried Rice and Fries! (No photo, maybe I was too hungry).
