Started the day just like usual but breakfast is different with fish roll today. Yup unhealthy but I don’t care.

Went around with Raj, Modern Trade Assistant Manager, to the different supermarkets. He is a really nice manager who really took care of us very well and ended our work trips on a good note. We went to supermarket outlets under Aprico, Cargills, Keells and Sirilak.

1. Arpico @ Dehiwala. A very big store which has almost everything ranging from grocery to home furniture. No pictures were allowed to be taken in the store other than our own products. HAHA no idea why!!

Our very own shelf and I learnt that items on our shelves can be rearranged and displayed the way we want it usual but if our products are displayed at the oil section generally with the other brands, we can't really rearrange the products

2. Cargills @ Union Place. We think that this is the area for the rich because the supermarkets around this area are just different from those in other neighbourhoods. The exterior of Cargills @ Union Place was something which I was fond of. This is the very first outlet that Cargills have and currently they have more than 200 outlets island-wide.

In Cargills, I have learnt that by looking at the price labels, you can differentiate between fast-moving products and slow-moving ones. So as can be seen in the photo below, yellow labels will mean slow-moving products while green will mean fast-moving products.Green labels with a red sticker means very fast moving products.

3. Keells @ Union Place. There is even a fountain outside and the space between shelves were really large here to allow easy shopping for goods

They even have a cafe here inside the supermarket.

4. Arpico @ Hyde Park. This is the biggest outlet, similar to the size of Tampines Ikea, with restaurant and food stalls.

They have this bread counter to sell their bread together with Nescafe. You get to slice your own bread!

Then we had out lunch @ New Banaas Leaf. The food is good but I think the price is not that good with Chicken Buriyani selling at $4.50 each.

Finally got to taste the cookies at The Brick Lane in Crescat! Raj gave me a treat and the red velvet cookie was really good even though it was expensive.

6. Sirilak @ Koswatta. We had our street promotion here and for 200 rupees spent, you get to spin the sure-win pinwheel! I test spinned and got the small bottle coconut oil. Then Raj bought ta bottle of oil and wanted to see how was our luck. I spinned it again and got the same coconut oil! I'm fated with that.

Back to hotel and ate the other sandwich I got for breakfast as my dinner and banans. Washed up and off to Colombo Fort Railway for the sleepers' train to the East of Sri Lanka - Trincomalee!
